Bart de Steenhuijsen Piters, PhD, is an expert in the field of inclusive agricultural value chains and private sector development in low and medium income countries. He has expertise in food and nutrition security, private and public sector reforms and policy development; stakeholder participation; governance of public-private partnerships and the design of sustainable production and consumption chains.
He has over twenty-five years of experience, gained through long-term positions in Mali, Cameroon and Tanzania and numerous short-term assignments in Africa and Asia. In his current function, Dr. de Steenhuijsen Piters is currently Senior Research Coordinator at Wageningen Economic Research. In this function he is providing leadership to large acquisitions and research projects, contributing to client policy development and engaging in strategy development at WUR. Till 2019 he was member of the management team of KIT, assisting the CEO with knowledge and business development of the Institute. He managed large scale multidisciplinary research projects, including impact evaluations, contributed to strategic policy developments of both government, non-government and businesses, and is known as a public speaker and debater.
