Côte d’Ivoire, officially the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, is a country located on the south coast of West Africa. Its political capital is Yamoussoukro, in the centre of the country, while its economic capital and largest city is the port city of Abidjan.
Through the production of coffee and cocoa, the country was an economic powerhouse in West Africa during the 1960s and 1970s. Côte d’Ivoire’s GDP hasn’t ceased to increase exponentially since the early 2000s, to reach a staggering 43 billion USD in 2018. Today, Côte d’Ivoire’s’ top exports are cocoa beans (3.79 bn USD), rubber (1.1 bn USD), cocoa paste (1.04 bn USD) and cocoa butter (503 million USD)
